We're not set up to accept credit or eftpos cards, so please make payment via Internet Banking as follows:

Add your name into the reference details.

A 20% deposit will be requested on making a booking, which will be subtracted from the total amount on departure.  The deposit will be refunded if you cancel with at least a week's notice so we're able to re-let the accommodation.

A bigger group?

If you have more than four (or need a third bedroom) we may be able to accommodate two extras (singles or a couple) in the spare bedroom in the main house.  You could even pitch a tent on the lawn.

Please call for details and availability.

For your health, safety, comfort & security

Covid-19 or influenza concerns?  Your hosts Steve & Pauline are both fully vaccinated, and will maintain regular booster shots as available.  The guest wing is separated from the main house by a linkway so interaction can be minimised if you wish.  We have no special requirements of our guests other than letting us know if you're ill or infectious.

You will have your own key to the guest wing so you can come and go as you please, independent of the main house.

No dogs please.  We have chooks on the property and don't want to see them disturbed.

Kahuimanu is a non-smoking facility.  If you wish to smoke (or vape) please do so outside.

Do you have food allergies or preferences?  Please let us know - we can cater for vegans, vegetarians, and those with particular food sensitivities.

Both the guest wing and the main house are fitted with smoke detectors.

A carbon monoxide detector is not fitted as it's unnecessary.  The house is entirely electric with no carbon-based fuels apart from the outside gas barbeque.  The guest wing carport is not attached to the house, so there is no chance of carbon monoxide entering from vehicles.  Additionally, the nature of an eHaus' ventilation system means there's a constant supply of fresh, filtered air distributed throughout the house.

A burglar alarm in the guest wing independent of the main house can be set if necessary.  Please talk to Steve or Pauline if you choose to use it.

Worried about water quality in a rural environment?  Not at Kahuimanu.  Pure rainwater is fed from the roof to a pair of 25,000 litre tanks via a first flush diverter.  This ensures any roof contamination is left behind.  But just to be sure, the water is then pumped through a pair of filters and UV lamp to remove any further contaminants or bacteria before it enters the house.  We think it's the purest, safest, sweetest water you'll experience anywhere.

Our waste water is split into grey water and black water, and treated separately in our Naturalflow system before being pumped to dripline trenches in the orchard to irrigate the fruit trees.  Safe, odourless, and recycling a precious resource.

Allergic to chlorine?  So is Pauline's family, so the spa pool water is kept crystal clear using a chlorine-free Simple Silver solution.

There are four external CCTV cameras clearly visible on the corners of the house.  These have been placed to provide security, and are specifically positioned and aimed to preserve your privacy.  Please ask Steve to show you the images from the cameras if you wish.

A video door bell at the front door to the main house alerts us to the arrival of visitors.

There are three interior CCTV cameras in the garage attached to the main house to keep an eye on the vehicles and bikes (and to let us know we have actually closed the garage doors when away from the house!).

A Fibaro smart home system turns on lights and electrical equipment based on time of day, light levels and movement.  If you look carefully you can see the little golf-ball size sensors around the house - they look a bit like an eyeball, and flash briefly when movement is detected.  They are not cameras.  Please talk to Steve if you're interested in smart home concepts, how the system works, and how it can be integrated into other smart home systems such as Home Assistant.
